Onto my 2nd modeling attempt..since a long long time ago in a state far far away. Advice and corrections are most appreciated!
I only know of one picture of Bethge's partially striped Pfalz (not Kaus's fully striped one). The basic colors I'm going for are the alum-grey/white/black-stripes suggested by Dan San in this thread;
Possible Scheme's for Hans Bethge's 5888. I have no idea how I'm going to do the stripes.
First however - the inards. My first-ever stab at painted "wood technique" - three ways.
[Note: in actuality the grain and variations stand out a lot more than the photo's, I need to work on the photography end of this...]
First the standard layer of dark oil removed with sponge and brush. Pretty fast. Next time I'd use a thinner layer and maybe get a fan brush. Fuselage.
Next. oils again but with less of a streaking and more...wavy, plywood-kind-of-shaping peaks, and some touch up with a detail brush. Sorry the photo's a bit blurry. Cockpit Floor.
Finally tried using a "borrowed" couple of colored pencils. Borrowed from my 10 year old (please don't tell my wife). I think with practice this could be quite good, you can get a lot of detail. Too marbley here, but that's my fault. Engine mount.
I like the results enough that I couldn't bring myself to overpaint the interior with a grey or silbergrau...and I understand that a varnished interior is a legitimate option so what the heck.
