It is with great sadness, to share here, that only today I learned, that Gunars C. Davids Zulis at the age of 53, has passed away peacefully, March 23, 2010 at his home in Toronto.
Dave leaves behind his husband Barbara, and was a cherished son of Aina and the late Elmars.
Dave was a passionate collector of historical information and pictures, to keep alive the history of Latvian aviation (1918-1940), including also facts and persons acting in WW1.
But not for his own sake, he all made it available to the public on his excellent website
Latvian Aircraft - 1918-1940 for which he was awarded the bronze beacon of the internet.
Since about the last five years I was in contact with Dave, benefitted from his advice, and supported his work with some smaller contributions to his well documented site, as results of local research in Latvija.
Since second half of 2009 we were less in contact, and Dave hopefully announced he would add the latest outcomes and efforts as soon as his health would allow "his return to the keyboard".
His last personal contribution to his website was January 17th, and as tribute to Gunars work and to his memory, Latvians.com/lobh.org will support continuing his web presence.
I would like to express my condoleances to his wife Barbara, family and all who are priviliged to may call themselves his friends.
May we keep up the good spirit that Dave showed us all, ....make worldwide friends, and further study our common human history as citizens of this beautiful globe.
Dave, we will not forget you.........
