Aircraft lighting

Hi I am an RC plane hobbiest and am new to the Aerodrome forums.

I would like to find out some history on WW1 (and vintage) aircraft lighting.

Was there ever the use of lighting, lanterns or such on any WW1 (or vintage civillian secondly) planes in the WW1 era?

Also did any Fokker D7 aircraft ever carry a bomb under the fuse, or was it just hand drops from the D7.

thank you

Brent

Hi Brent,

British aeroplanes had instrument lights. I have some originals and some replicas in my collection. I don't know if lights were used during the war or post war but I think they were probably used during the war by both sides. I will see if I can find any photographs which are clear enough to show if there are lights on the instrument panel or not.

I don't know about the Fokker D.VII. It was primarily a fighter, but it was not unheard of for some fighters to carry bombs under some circumstances.

Regards,

David.
