Colour of ink used to mark part numbers etc on wooden components ?.

Hi
Can anyone tell me the correct colour "colours" of the ink used to mark part numbers etc on to wooden components ?, I have had a few pieces of original timber where the original part numbers were still on, the colour appears to be a kind of purple, but given that some types of ink can change colour with age/light exposure etc, I would like to know if there are any original referrances to the ink that was used.

Cheer's.
Bob.
