Exactly, originally an Aeromarine Model 40-F flying boat US Navy serial A5066, which was one of a batch of 50 built and delivered after the war. During 1918 the US Navy ordered 200 machines (serials A-5040/5239) of which 150 (A-5090/5239) were cancelled directly at the end of the war.
The engine fitted was a Curtiss OXX-6 of 100 hp (pusher configuration). A certain quantity of Aeromarine 40-F's were upgraded to the Aeromarine Model 41 (inclusing A5066) which was fitted with a more powerfull Hispano-Suiza engine.
Aeromarine started immediately after the war with civil versions of the military Model 40-F, resulting in the Model 40-B, Model 40-C, Model 40-L, Model 40-T and Model 40-U most of them fitted with different engines. The idea was of course to retain the workforce AFAP.
Correct identification
Aeromarine Model 40-F (US Navy A-5066), re-engined in 1922 with an Hispano-Suiza engine 'elevating' the machine to a Model 41 (this version is seen on the picture)
The Aerofiles site does not mention the Aeromarine Model 41
