Question Aircraft fueling supllies during WWI

Hello,

I'm trying to track down some information regarding the most common ways that aircraft were refueled on base. Did they use individual cans, pump from truck, ect...

Any info / pics of equipment / refueling would be appreciated.

Thanks for your time.

Handcart Fuel Pump.

Hi Dgreve:
In Vintage Warbirds No.2, THE GERMAN ARMY AIR SERVICE IN WAR WAR ONE. by Raymond Lawerence Rimell, pages 38 and 39 illustrates the German refueling Cart. The 55 gal.drum is laid horizontal on the cart, with pipe with inserted into bung on rthe side of the drum, on the pipe is the hand pump and refueling hose. A second type, is the drum is upright on the cart and the pipe is inserted in the bung on top of the drum.
The pump is a wobble type hand pump. A funnel was placed in fuel filler neck and the fuel is filtered through a chamois placed in the funnel. The aircraft being refueled is a Rol.C.II.
Merry Christmas Dgreve,
Dan-San
