I've noticed that every kit I have (OK, they're all DVIIs ) all sport ammo boxes and the feed chutes as just blobs of plastic and a real week area on these kits. Is there anybody that makes PE versions? Seems like this one would be a no-brainer but alas, none seem to be available.
Anybody have a good recipe/pattern for scratch built items maybe???
See if you can find the feed chutes from an old Dragon/DML kit, the Fokker DR.1, D.VII and D.VIII all had nicely molded chutes with detailed ammo belts molded to them, not the flat junk Eduard gives or the chutes without ammo belt that roden has. another way to fix the Roden ones is to use a photoetched ammo belt although they are not round looking like the Dragon ones they are much better than the flat Eduard ones. A good source of the ammo belts in 1/48 is the toms modelworks German gun set (for the parrabellum drums) or else the Photocut big sheet has a couple of ammo belts as well as many different guns, wheels, prop hubs, seats and much more.
