Completed DH-2......FINALLY!

Heya all, been hella busy else where but now I have some time to spend on aero art again....and the gumption.

So the model is done after like 4 years...YAY!. I'm glad to have it off the table. And am ready to move down the ol' project list =)

The following is a scene in process really as what is shown is only 2/3's of the frame. There will be a EIII added eventually. In this shot, I wanted to capture as many of the unique characteristics of the DH-2 as I could in one image. As simple as it looks, there is a lot going on structurally with the plane.

The plane depicted is that of a well know 32 Squadron DH-2...7907 of B flight. The pilot unknown in this scene.

I have some 24 squadron profiles and a gnome render I might turn into a mini profile image. Maybe a rigging guide if the scale model people would find it useful.

Alas the damage is done =D

The text is only a working title btw. Just funnin around =D

As always, thanks for checking it out and all comments and crits..good and bad are welcome.

Thanks!

I would love to get my hands on a rigging guide, I have been searching high and low and come up with very little in the way of a detailed plan. I am nearly at the rigging stage on my Roden 1/32 DH-2.

By the way, love your work.

I seem to see what looks like an Aileron balancing cable stretching spanwise on upper wing---but i always thought the D.H.2 used 'sprung' ailerons on upper---don't recall ever seeing that 'wire'---but I may, of course, stand corrected.

Lovely work, by the way---Esoteric stuff indeed to me.

Dave.

edit-----bugger it--just found a photo that does show it----curiouser and curiouser.....but certainly not all of them, surely.

Hi guys,

Wondering if this aileron operation variation was a concomitant of the interchangeability of the wing panels?

Jerry, Thanks for the inspiration over the years. I've been slowly moving towards painterly. =)

And thanks to everyone else who has stopped by...

Thanks Russ...

I hope you dont mind..I paid a little homage to you and your wonderful DH-2 painting by using a photo of myself for the pilots texture map. Maybe I'll show more of my face next time

The reason you dont see the bungees/springs on my model is that I couldn't find a clear enough reference of them. But there are quite a few that show the above lay out. Also the eyelets used to hold the wire in place changed from variant to variant. For example, sometimes it's like the one above and others it's tight to the wing...like the lower wing. I think regardless of whether the bungees where present, the wire was still there. I could be wrong but I think the bungees were added to aide the wires not replace them.

Im not exactly sure why it moved. Lol, it's as varied as the location of the gravity tank. Even the tube that leaves the tank is varied. Some go through the wing, while other times, they went around the leading edge. I have never seen a photo of the tube going through the wing when it's offset from center though.

There are like 3 main variants it appears...and from there, there are bits and pieces of all it seems. That could be result of the interchangeability in parts. Probably any configuration could be accurate.

Anyhow.. thanks for the kind words =D

Thanks for having a look =D I'll work up a guide. I've never made one, is there anything , besides the obvious, I should note?

I'll see what I come up with =D
