Question Wingnut SE5a wrong rib spacing?

Ciao a tutti!

I bought the Wingnut 1/32 SE5a and, after pleasing my eyes with those beautiful details, I decided to compare it with the Roden kit. To my surprise, I noticed differences between the wings rib spacing. After examining drawings and pictures on Windsock and Kagero publications, I realized that Roden ribs, although lacking stitching detail, have the correct "half" spacing in proximity of the ailerons (see, for instance, picture 60/9 on Windsock "SE5/SE5a Squadrons" or that on page 20 of Wingnut instruction booklet), while on Wingnut kit the spacing is more similar to that of the replica built by Vintage Aviator (see page 19 of Wingnut booklet).
Can any expert investigate on this case?

Otto

My Gallery
Half rib/full rib.

Hello Otto:
The S.E.5a during the course of productionhad many changes, the wing ribs were one of them. The early upper and lower wings at the aileron location had a box double rib that went from the rear spar to the trailing edge. The wing drawings were changed and the short rib was replaced with a full box double rib that went from the leading edge to the trailing edge to improve the strength of the wing. Both are correct, one is on early serial numbers and the other on the improved wings on later serial numbers. To know which is correct, you would need to see photographs that show that detai l of the wings.
Blue skies Otto,
Dan-San

Hi Otto,
Yes, i agree---one extra rib at aileron cut out position---i scraped mine away--but it is not perfect---there is something wrong with the spacing that just aint right i'm afraid. Also missing rib tape details on centre section---and of course that fin/rudder.

Still super though---just don't be afraid to treat it like any other kit---live with it, or bash it a bit.

Dave.
