2nd Lt Wilfred Forman Poulter was shot down on 5 March 1918 in SE5a B145 and succumbed to his wounds the following day. At the time, No 24 Squadron RFC was based at Matigny, a short way east of Béthencourt-sur-Somme.

Hi Johnny,

According to my late friend Rick Duiven, as well as the other authors of "The Jasta War Chronology" (Grub Street, 1998), the best candidate for who shot Poulter down would be Offizier-Stellvertreter Adolf Schreder of Jasta 17. Schreder claimed an SE5 southeast of Vendhuille at 15.00 hrs (German time) on 5 March 1918, for his sole confirmed victory.

Schreder himself lasted only 12 more days, being killed in action on 17 March at 4 km west of Busigny near Bohain at 1150 hrs.
