Welcome everybody!

Guys & girls: I'm still working through that giant pile of model Albatros's, so here comes another question for all you learned associates!

The subject I would like help on this time is the Albatros DVa which was flown by Lothar Von Richthofen. Now, I will tell you the colours that I've seen on the Jasta 11 website, where there's a small computer-rendered picture.

The colours are: entire plane painted red, except: yellow propellor spinner and yellow elevators; underside of both wings is light blue. Is this scheme correct as I would like to paint an accurate representation?

Many thanks and best wishes, Ken. *;D

* I don't have Ltn. Lothar Frhr. von Richthofen flying an Alb. D.Va, I have Ltn. von Richthofen flyin a Alb.D.V in June 1917, that was painted as follows,
Red, spinner, fuselage to the leading edge of the fin and stabilizer, wheel covers, under-carriage and cabane struts. fuselage cross overpainted and apparent.
*The empennage was yellow. The fin/rudder cross outined in white.
*The upper surface of the wings were painted dark green and mauve.
*The under surface of the wings were sky blue.
*There are two photographs of the machine taken at Gontrode is on page 44, photos 117 and 118. of "von Richthofen's Flying Circus" by my dear friend, Greg Van Wyngarten.

Hi everybody!

Thanks Dan for your helpful answer. I'm surprised that the official Jasta 11 site got this wrong: this is where arguments start. However, it's possible I misread the DVa when it should have read DV...but let's be honest about it, when using the Airfix DVa, I doubt anybody would notice the difference anyway!

It just goes to show how easy it is to take for granted what one reads.

Best Wishes to everyone, Ken. *;D
