Gentlemen,
Somewhat to my surpise, my mother wants a model of Rabens triplane. I'm sure she wouldn't care one way or another but I am obsessive about being as accurate as possible.
The question is; Did the underside of the red nosed tripe remain Fokker blue or was it painted red and white also, or some combination thereof?
My best guess is that the underside of the wings were red, based on the Photo at capture. the wing tips are dark both top and bottom. The bottom being too dark for shadow effect on the blue. I have no photo showing a hint of the underside of the tailplane but my speculation is that it also would have been overpainted white.
I am looking forward to your comments.
Best regards,
Onward through the fog!
Terry

Dan-San,
Thank you so much.I'm glad to hear that you're feeling better although what anyone would want to do with snuff has been beyond me since I was a kid.
Blue skies.
Terry

Greetings Terry Crisp,

Remember also (thanks to GregvanW.) we now know that the red & white Dr.I had the cowling white as well, even at that late date of French ownership. Dan-San believes that the a/c was 581/17. *Indeed we know the French camouflaged example carried the werke number for this machine as the French identity number. *In a large format photo that I have the Dr.I cowling has been stuck onto a Nieu. XII and the Horseshoe shape Nieu. XII cowl (& prop) is on the the now French 5 colour camouflaged DR.I. *I plan of course to build this version as well in 1/48 and put it with my other earlier version of Raben's Triplane.

Woodland Scenics Summer Field Grass. I attempted to cut it in 1/2 inch and smaller sections. I seem to remember using/blending two colors med yellow and pale yellow grasses.

I had an offline contact ask me how do I glue the static grass/scatter grass to the plexi. I don't. My box builder leaves the paper that comes from the manufacturer on the base face for me. This is nothing but rubber glue backed brown paper with the glue sanwiched between the paper and the base faceplate. I apply a typical poly - glue like 'Elmers yellow wood glue'

The static/scatter is put down and the whole unit is allowed to thoroughly dry. Then Sometimes I'll apply a brown wash to show an earth tone. Let that thoroughly dry. Drill your holes for the pins in the base and the kit wheels. Brass pins inserted with cyno - glue.
