Anyone out there make 1/72nd scale decales for Jacobs' Triplane? I am thinking of the devil/god of the north wind/whatever you want to call it.

Many thanks

Nick

Super Scale Int'l. sheet no. 72-664 has these markings on it. However I believe these are out of production.

Rosemont Hobby are having a Superscale sale at the moment. Barry is a WWI specialist so it may be worth shooting him an e-mail.

greetings Old Nick,

The SuperScale version are characature's of Dan San Abbott's work. *SuperScale ignored (to their deterement) the fine work submitted by Dan. *They decided to Jazz it up and brighten up the colours. *The figure was even fundamentally changed.
If you want a decent 1/72 scale rendition check with Americal Gryphon's Jacobs 1992 sheet. *I believe they still have stocks.
Mr. Glen Merrill is exacting about colours. *The silk screen process leaves micro-jagged edges but in consideration with the subject (an all black aircraft) its not a big deal. *The original god of the North Wind is a simplified motif and Americal is as exact as I find the original motif to be. *Neal O'Connor (God bless him) was Jacobs friend and interviewed him. *Jacobs drew a color rendering with Neal present. Dan matched the rendering with notations from Jacobs about the dullness of the colors. *The SuperScale version would look good if you were modeling a modern built flying replica with a Lycoming engine. *STL

Look here:
www.tmg.obywatel.pl/pr_jacobs_josef.htm
And then find someone with ALPS printer.
Maybe Bob Pearson from Internet Modeler can print that for you for some $.
Greetings!
G.

Old Nick:
I believe Americal Griffon has the Jacobs Winged Devil design decals in 1/72 and I think in 1/48 scale.
Happy New Year,
Dan-San
