Thumbs up Gee... that's pretty.........

Did you ever spend a few minutes admiring the sunset? One of those glorious, golden autumn sunsets when the lighting is just right, backlighting rumpled-up clouds, and streaming through in golden rays, covering everything in warm honey? Sure you have. All of us, at one time or another, have been mesmerized by that sudden, unexpectedly gorgeous sunset .

Well I just got my *ass* shot off by some opportunistic Albatross pilot while I was gawking at a sunset just like that, Over Flanders Fields.

Let me be clear; I’m not, like,a total flight sim rookie; -I was flying Red Baron on floppies. And I was not staring at my monitor thinking “Hey – awesome graphix, dude!” - I had actually forgotten what I was supposed to be doing -(playing guard dog for a Obs balloon); and instead, I was enjoying the sunset. It was truly beautiful how it turned my cockpit golden-orange, and how, as I banked left, the glow rolled slowly across my wing just before somebody sawed it off with his Spandaus.

My “last thought” as spun down toward the trenchlines (besides the usual expletives) was: “Wow. I bet that happened to a lot of poor schmucks back then.”

The point is this- I’m new to this forum, and to OFF-BH&H; but to those of you who love the genre but haven’t strapped yourself into this one yet, –give it some serious consideration. The game is good. And I’m not just talking graphics. Between flak that will scare the bejeesus out of you, and enemy AI pilots who just may be smarter than you are, OFF is today’s edge of total immersion for WWI I

I won’t kid you – it took a few hours of trial-and-error tweaking and a lot of military funerals to balance the sim with my system. But once you get it fine tuned, it’ll put you in the cockpit and make you forget your real name. I guarantee you; after you’ve logged a few hours with a specific pilot, each time you strap him into the cockpit, you won’t be thinking “...Hope I get a couple of kills this flight.” You’ll be thinking “...Will I get back this time?” -and that, baby, is a feel for the real.

Sorry to ramble on, fellow fanatics, but damn, I was impressed. Polovsky and the rest of the OFF team: Salut! You’ve built classic, guys.
