Fokker questions?
Hi everyone,
I've recently been told a couple of things that contradict previous information about Fokker instrumentation for the rotary powered aircraft, and the 'layout' of the sawtooth leading edge on the Dr.1 and D.VI
Firstly, I'd been told that the instrument between the guns on the Dr.1 and D.VI, (and presumably the E.V - D.VIII), was the fuel gauge. Now I'm informed it's the tachometer, (which I thought would have been in the cockpit).
Secondly, that the sawtooth leading edge should be 'packed-up' at the rear end over the spar to finish flush with the top of the rib profile, which is contrary to my previous info which said it was below the rib profile at the spar.
Any help/clarification would be much appreciated,
Regards,
Mark.

Fuel gage??
CF-FZG:
The fuel gage on the Fok.DR.I, D.VI, D.VII and E.V is mounted on top of the fuel and is partially covered with a fairing, and is between the MG jackets.

CF-FZG
(Is that a Canadian registration?)
Dan-San is bang-on re the fuel gauge between the gun cooling jackets. The tachometer was/is mounted between the gun butts more or less in the pilots face.

John

Dan-San and Maxim08,
Thanks for the reply about the fuel gauge
The pic shows it very well, (John, what's the cockpit?)
Yes John, it is a Canadian reg, one that I intend modelling
Any ideas on the sawtooth leading edge?
Mark.

that is the Knowelton DVII. the tach on the Dr1 is inside the cockpit above the pedals.
and the details about where the sawtooth ends, it is in the middle of the spar, and below the top of the capstrip.

Mark,
To add to Jeff's comment, the sawtooth attches to the front spar between the ribs.
re cf-fzg, that will be Don McVicar's Mosquito that he raced in the Bendix?

D.H. Mosquito and Boeing.
Maxim08:
If Boeing had built the D.H. Mosquito bombing version instead of the B-17 the *th Air Force losses would have been a heluva lot less. It could carry the same bomb load with two crew members and do at 400 mph all the way to Berlin.

Dan-San,
I must admit that I have always been puzzled as to why the daylight bombing offensive wasn't performed by Mosquitos. 4,000 lbs at over 300 kts seems like a great way to run an offensive.

John

Hello,
Hundreds of high-speed Mosquito bombers covered by Mustangs, spread over Germany? It is very interesting vision.
As for the topic:
Mark, try this. I hope this will help clarify a little the saw tooth leading edge doubts.
