I have recently bought this kit, 8008 with etched parts etc, I'm sure there was a comment somewhere in this forum last year about the kit being very difficult or inaccurate but I can't find it, can anyone enlighten me, also are the decals decent enough for an accurate kit? TIA
Robbie.

It builds up nicely. *The only real concern is that the strut locator pips are a little off in the cabane strut area. *Careful planning eliminates the problem. *The Lozenge is not real accurate, but they do go down ok. Use lots of Micro Set, setting solution. I'll look at my instruction sheet and check my notes. I plan on doing a conversion to the CL.II or III sometime later this year, so it a good time for me to refresh myself.

Hello Stephen-
Would you care to compare the Eduard with the Koster vac?
I have the vac and am wondering which is the better of the two.
The Eduard seems unobtainable, including eBay.

The body of the text I'm working on does just that. While the Koster is a great vacform the Eduard is an easier build when it comes to the wings. Just my opinion mind you.
Koster's white metal is only a little in better quality than this early Eduard kit. The Eduard brass is far more extensive and has only one fit problem in the fuselage to be concerned about.

Are the wings inaccurate or just difficult?
Tell you the part am most concerned with, really. Painting variable-sized loz. My plan is to do the dk blue 'over-spray' on a variable loz pattern with loz/typical wing coverings. Similar to the art that is avail. on the other thread just now only with the dark overspray.
A project!
Thanks for the contrast/compare.

They are as accurate as you make them. I think the ideal kit has injection plastic wings & flying surfaces with a vacuform fuselage and resin & Brass details and struts.

Try using a larger Lozenge decal for the hand painted areas if it seems a concern. I hand painted mine and then hit it with a dark tanslucent mist from my airbrush. Dark green, Dark blue, Medium Green and dark Plum.
Thanks for the contrast/compare.
Good Luck

Thank you!
Agree with all points and have been circling this thing for 4 years due to a variety of inexperience.
but got the Koster when I could.
I think the Hanno is another one of those completely unique aircraft...the loz scheme just adds to the character of the thing...
so (he flirted) do you have any pics to share of your build?

Knew it...you'd think I'd learn.
Good luck on your project!
This is what threw me:
"Dark green, Dark blue, Medium Green and dark Plum."
Have the Windsock df but little else for source.
My assumption was dk blue based on that and some wandering around online.
Awhile back we were discussing dyes, paints and varnishes and colors. Those 4 came up. Particlularly late-war. That's my recollection.
It sounds a great deal more interesting than just a mist of dk blue.
Can you elaborate?
