I have seen several interpretations in rendering this aircraft. Osprey 32 "Albatros Aces of World War I" shows the underside of the fuselage in natural wood. Mark Miller's excellent rendering shows it grey. I have also seen it green all over, although I cant remember a source. I can discount the last option because a photo in the Osprey clearly shows a change in color.
What I would like to know is if there is a consensus in the latest thinking. Was Konnecke's plane new and therefore green over natural wood, or was it already painted in Jasta 5 colors with a grey fuselage.
Without knowing the facts I personally favor the grey undersides as more appealing aesthetically.
Thank you for any light you shed on the subject,
Greg
