Since the MfJ units and SeeFosta units were no slackers when it came to color markings, why not have a thread on them?

Naval Pilot Bühl in about June-July 1918. My reference says that his monicker was 'König' or 'King' hence the crown around his fuselage.

Great photo. Do you know what those attachments are to the rear wheel struts?

Hi,

Could be. Nieuwmunster aerodrome was not the best one for take offs and landings. Polder ground, lots of heavy clay in it ! Some kind of a swamp after heavy rains. Never have seen anything of the kind before.

And talking about modeling. Will try to make a 1/72 scale model of part of the Jabbeke aerodrome for an exhibition next year over here. A good place for all my naval planes to land !
If I ever get it finished on time I will post some pics.

Hi Wingstrut,

This is indeed one of the better swamps in the northern part of West Flanders, the photo being taken at Koolkerke aerodrome, probably early 1918.
Stuntpilot of service, our good friend Onkel Theo. *;D *He could aim better then land ! *;D
Koolkerke had already a better underground then Nieuwmunster. *Gistel aerodrome was also very wet. *As were Uitkerke, Meetkerke, Mariakerke in the winter.

We have swamps, fortunately, no crocs ! *;D
They would never survive the Flemish mentality. *;D

Talking about Seefrosta markings :

Any idea about who those were :

Colored triangle with white or yellow circle in the middle.

One single band around the fuselage, possibly orange.

Poss had a large white or yellow band around his fuselage ending at both sides in another much smaller band of different color. Any ideas on the colors ?

Friedrich von Götz of the MFJ, had something very stylised around his fuselage. Only have seen a small part of it. Anyone know more details ?

Ah so many questions !
