Quite a while ago (back in 2006 to be exact), I was playing around with an idea for a crash scene, inspired by one of Stephen Lawson's dioramas. See here for the initial idea:

I was never really happy with the Pfalz damage or the figure, so the idea went back into the box.
Waiting for the oil paints to dry on my SE5 project, I remembered this concept and, had another crack at roughing together a concept that (hopefully) goes together a little better. Having got rid of the old Pfalz model two moves ago, I had another try using an Eduard Albatros DV, and avoiding exaggerating the internal wing spar damage as I had on the Pfalz. Anyways, today I roughed up the ground work (obviously not painted), and undertook some surgery to a few miscellaneous figures I had lying around (including the one from the previous concept). The Albatros was suitably "bent". The rest of the battle damage will be more subtle, indicating a roughly controlled crash landng. Here is the current iteration of the idea (an yes I know the tail skid is dry fitted backwards

):
The front half of the diorama will have replicated water to make it look like the aircraft has crashed into a river, similar to Stephen's dio. Still thinking of a similar title, like "You Win This Time!", or "I'll Get You Next Time!". Something like that...
Always open to ways to improve this idea as I definately am not a diorama builder.
