War Graves

Hello,
being a newcomer here, pls for advice.

What happened to WWI war graves in northern Italy ?

As Dr.O´Conner writes:

Enrica Bonecker was the girlfriend of "Josha" Kiss for all the time he was in Pergine. She used to wait in anticipation and excitement for the clinking medals made on his chest aas he walked up the street to her house. She never married, but visited her beloved´s grave every day for 52 years.

In 1970 (after death of Enric Bonecker ???), Kiss´remains were removed from the discontinued military cemetery at Pergine and placed in the Ossario at Rovereto, Italy. Included with the remains was Kiss´wristwatch, with the hands still showing 11:00 hours.

I´m curious what happened to other war graves from WWI. I´m interested in war graves from Ghirano where Flik 51J and Flik 19 were located. I appreciate any kind of your advice.

Welcome here!

Generally spoken: Soldier's cemeteries stay eternally. Some times graves a concentrated (like Germany's in France and Belgium in the 1920'ties and 1930'ties). On the other hand British grave stayed where they were and therefor you can find cemeteries with fewer than 10 soldiers in Flanders.

Hope that helps.

For Austrian graves you have to ask here: osk.at

Thank You Thorsten

I was in Ghirano some time ago but all I was able to find after fallen austrian airmen was a tombstone of Fähnrich Ernst Pontalti of FLIK 51 fitted on peripheral wall of cemetery.

I´ll try the austrian black cross.
