Roden 1/32 Fokker D.VI - done!

As several here have mentioned Roden provided some free kits and I set up an informal group build. Here is one of my builds.

Tails up rear quarter views.

On the paricipants that got free kits the rules allowed only aftermarket parts designed for the kit to be applied. Now that its finished I will go back and apply a chin access door and upper wing attachment point plates. In this case I used the Part of Poland frets designed for the kit and extended the nose to make in generally more accurate.

Stephen,
Nice use of washes and a sweet looking 6.
What did you use for lozenge?

Cheers,
Bob

I missed the fact Roden had this aeroplane in their stable. Very nice work Stephen. Does anyone know if there is a 48 scale kit of the Fokker D.VI?

Stephen, Beautiful job!

Have this in my stash, and would like to do a fictional Polish, or possibly Ukranian post-war kite, but the thought of duplicating your fuselage extension fills me with trepidation!

Graham, (early) 1/48 Eduard, Kit #8012. OOP & pricey when you can find it.

Thanks Bob of Buckle fame! Greetings Graham. As of now no one has it in 1/48 kit form. Past kits were Tom's Vacuform kit, Resin kit, and Eduard"s early slush mold series issue.

Thumbs up Beautiful one!

A beautiful build of a most pleasing aircraft. Great work, and thanks for sharing. I'm going to build mine soon.
A couple of questions: Is the lozenge the ones supplied with the kit?
I have measured mine carefully and held it up to the drawings in Datafile #84. It fits perfectly. What are your references, and how much longer than the kit do they say it is?

Thanks,
Kofoed

Thanks Rob. I would really enjoy seeing that build.

For a quick reference see the real image I posted and my model. Note the length of the fuselage from lower wing tip edge to the motor cowling mounts. The lower wing on the D.VI is greater in chord due to the second wing spar. Here are some of the references I used.

WWI Warplanes Vol. 1 by R. Rimell, Albatros Productions Ltd. Pp.40-7, 1992.

The Dr.I length at 5770mm. (because the kit fuselage is from their Dr.I kit.)
The Fokker D.VI fuselage is 5900mm.
That is a difference of 130mm in full size.

130mm be in 1/32 scale inches? .1599" is 5/32". (Thanks Hugh - MerlinV - Coleman.

The longer length was to account for the second lower wing spar.
