Breguet's Aircraft ID Challenge #511
Sorry, Kees,couldnt find anything from Iceland. As for a far-away land, this is far away from some participants, but not others.

Once they become an ACE they must wait 12hrs after the posting of the new challenge before they can post an answer. •To be eligible for correct ID an answer must include at least one characteristic of the aircraft that helped in its identification. •The first person to ID the challenge correctly gets to post the next challenge. If this can not be done for any reason Breguet himself will post the next challenge. •If an ace gives the correct answer too early, the challenge is over, he gets no point but has to post the next one. In lieu of the fact that the "novices" have in effect been "cheated" of their "exclusive" time that next post should be a relatively easy one. Anyone repeating the correct answer at the right time gets neither a point nor the right to post the next challenge. •The final arbitor in relation to questions about the rules will be Breguet. |

This is biplane of 1915 year made by the Kalgoorlie Aero Syndicate from Australia. There was an article about it in Flight magazine with this same photo, and I remembered this Sopwith-like view of the aircraft (cowling, shape of wings). With the exception of the motor and the wire strainers every part of the machine has been locally made, and hence the claim of the constructors that this is the first aeroplane built in Australia by Australians and of Australian material.
The first flight of the machine was from Coolgardie to Kalgoorlie. I like this names  I believe that there was bunches of Kangaroos jumping all around

I expected that someone would remember the Flight entry, but this was the best I could do for a "far-away" land, although it should have been a natural for Breguet. At least it adds the first Australian machine to this challenge. I fear we are running out of new nationalities.
Specs are: Wing Area 360 square feet Weight empty (excluding fuel and oil) 850lbs Speed 60 mph Climbing speed fully loaded 1250 lbs 200 feet per minute Petrol tank capacity 12 gallons Lubricating oil tank capacity 2˝ gallons Engine 50HP Gnome More information is at Kalgoorlie Biplane But this was not the first aeroplane built in Australia; it was just the first in Western Australia. The first was built by the Duigan brothers (John and Reginald) that flew in 1910. I don't know how much imported material it may have contained.
