Nieuport 17 wing

I want to model the Nieuport 17 flown by Sgt Willie Haviland of the Escadrille N124 using the Eduard 8023 1/48 kit. I can't tell which upper wing I should use, one is solid and the other has an opening cut out above the cockpit (for vision?). My guess is it should be the solid one. Am I correct?
