Mikaels Dr I did it
YouTube - Mikael Carlson's Fokker Dr 1 Dreidecker flies!
Mikael Carlson's Dr I flies! IMHO it's the historical most accurate Dr I flying at the moment. It's powered by a rotary and it's very interesting to hear the "plip" method working...
The painting is done to the latest research and was done on basis of reconstructed paints on the original BASF recipes, done by a leading paint historian.

Hans,
Do you know more on who & how did he do the color matching? Was this paint historian from BASF?
Jan

No, he is not. But it's quite easy: The material lists of the Dr I is mentioning pigments. And these pigments, based on Azo-paints, can be reconstructed with the help of the BASF archives. But I have to ask him to reveal more details. As many professional historians he is a little bit reluctant about contacts with armchair historians like us. Don't ask why, just follow some threads here....
He is definitely not the type "I knows all, you knows nothing and I never will publish anything" as he has already published several books, but mainly on RLM themes.

Franzkait, what makes you think that Achim's DrI is 'more' accurate than Mikaels?
