And don't forget the rules ,or ...

1. All aircraft are of the 14-18 period (Must have left the ground during this period).

2. All "ACES" with a score of 5.0 or higher must obey the 3.0 hour handicap. All others with a score of ZERO to 4.99 may start immediately, if not sooner!

3. To be eligible for correct ID an answer must include at least one characteristic of the aircraft that helped in its identification.

4. And whom ever wins this challenge will have to provide a new one! If this can not be done for any reason, please PM Breguet and he will take over as host!

5. If an ace gives the correct answer too early, the challenge is over, he gets no point but has to post the next challenge. In lieu of the fact that the "novices" have in effect been "cheated" of their "exclusive" time that next post should be a relatively easy one. Anyone repeating the correct answer at the right time gets neither a point nor the right to post the next challenge.

6. The final arbitrator of all things to do with the "rules" is Breguet.

Red face oooops forgot about the 3 hour rule

ummm, I think I need to come back in an hour or so, before I get hit with a big stick by Breguet ..... may be too late! I don't think I can remove this post so I have removed the content.

I know what you mean about the time that photos are posted on this site. I am in Australia, and I know that most of you are from Europe or the USA. Seeing a photo in time is just pot luck. I've seen many easy ones but am often too late to have a go.

Cheers, David.

Aeg c.iv

Very nice photo Richard!

It is an AEG C.IV. The tail plane has two sruts, the rear strut attaches to the tail skid, the fin is large and triangular, and comes forward a long way forward on the fuselage. The rudder is relatively tall and narrow, by which I mean that the distance between the leading and trailing edges is relatively small. If it was a wing, this would be the chord. Is there a name for this measurement when it is applied to a rudder? The rear cabane struts are angled backwards in contrast with the relatively upright interplane struts, and they attach to the fuselage roughly at the front of the gunners' cockpit. It's a two bay biplane, and it has the distinctive cutouts which start at the inside trailing edge of the ailerons.

Cheers, David.

Going by the strutt arrangement I'd say the dasterly Reds have captured an ......... bugger David didn't go to bed and beat me to the punch!

But also unfortunately this exact same photo was the subject of crashfile 171!

So challenge - but no points - to David.
