Orion night bomber lozenge....got em!

I got a nice little package in the mail today. It's Orion's 1/72 night bomber lozenge special pack for the Roden Staaken. It's 6 sheets, plus a sheet of notes for finishing.

The 6 sheets give you about the same square yardage (scale yards, of course....) as the 3 big roden sheets, so there should be enough to do the whole Staaken.

The decals are printed by Microscale, so there's no doubt they'll work perfectly.

The color looks great. Nice and dark, with several shades of blues and greys. None of the reds associated with the Roden kit sheets and they make the Roden ones look really bright.

The lozenge sizes are much smaller than the roden ones too, looking more like standard 1/48 lozenge, so that should work better than the Roden ones (that scale out to about the size of a man). These are about half that.

Gotta recommend these if you want to do the Staaken or any other 1/72 lozenged night bomber.

Chris

Orion Miniatures

They're pictures of them look better than what I took. With the flash, they kept looking a lot lighter than they are.

My Gallery
6 color fabric??

ChrisSavaglio;
I have never heard of 6 color lower fabric. The Kriegsmarine three color fabric was skewed 5º and the colors were grey-brown, grey- blue and grey-violet. The irregular hexagons were 150 wide x 200 mm long.
Blue skies,

There are six sheets to the Staaken set. They want to offer 4 & 5 colour and Kriegsmarine Hex later this next year. I don't know if they got the skew correct or not I have only seen their examples on the website. Maybe its my monitor but the 5 colour needs some tweeking.

Thanks, Stephan...the "6" was in regards to the number of sheets included in the set.

It's always hard to tell on the websites since monitors vary and a a number of other factors. The Staaken set looks nice in person.

Either way, the Staaken set is a huge improvement over the Roden stuff, so no complaints about it here. You guys know me...if it looks ok, I'm cool. I'm no rivet (rib stitch in our case, maybe) counter.

I have no ties to the company and I make no bold claims about accuracy (especially about things like color shades), but the colors look more right than the Roden ones.

I just thought everyone here would like to hear my impressions. I know a few asked about them in the past, but no one's bit the bullet and bought them yet. At least no one piped up about it.
