Hello Bruno,
Although I was 100% sure on the first foto, I am not on this one, it does look very familiar.

Hello Bruno,
That's very funny!
Because that answer was my third choice,
the first two were a Sopwith and a Bristol!
I decided it was too late to go back and change my original answer.
The foto feels like 1917 to me, that's the feeling I get from it. Dolphins weren't operational 'til 1918 and would be less likely to see a crash foto of one.
I won't mention which Bristol that it reminds me of since I'm only allowed one answer per host visit. I will say that there's enough ailerons and or an elevator visible to say that it could fit the Sopwith 1 1/2 Strutter.
That's my final answer for now!

Jay YOU ARE THE BEST
Even I who posted the photo was incapable to determine that it was
a 1/2 strutter!
The plane was a victim of Leutnant von Bertrab and belonged to RFC N°45
squadron on 6 April 1917-Serial number A2381
World War I Aircraft Serial Numbers - The Aerodrome - Aces and Aircraft of World War I
The photo was extracted out of the excellent !! book
"The Imperial German eagles in WW1-their postcards and pictures"
(a Shiffer military book) by our well known co- forumist
Lance J.Bronnenkant
Jay its up to you now

Hello Bruno,
Thank you for your kind words.
I think the "BEST" are our Member Authors that know these fotografs by heart and rather than dominate this Challenge let us escargots educate ourselves trying to figure out what in the HELL we are looking at!
Thanks for the good challenge.
As you know, the problem with hosting this is that one cannot advance one's score!
I will dredge out an identifiable wreck and post it later.
HAPPY TRAILS, FOKKERJ
P.S. I checked, this foto has not been used before in the BCFC!
