Ukranian biplane of the Spad type

Hello,

Here a picture of a Ukranian Spad. The picture was from Welt im Bild, 15 May 1918.

Hi Jos, interesting vintage Zeitung picture of a Russian Spad S.A.-4 with ski undercarriage. On the original print of the picture it can be seen that it is serial S.79 (painted on the rudder).

In no way is this a machine used by one of the fighting groups in the Ukraine, that is only propaganda (from the Germans). This is an original from the Russian air service.

Another Russian S.A.-4 was captured by the Austro-hungarians. A total of 10 Spad S.A.-4 machines were delivered to the Russians and (may be) one or two were used by the Soviet air service (with red stars ?).

Cheers

Kees

Varese2002 sorted it out.
This particular SPAD S.79 was used by 30th Corps Aviation Section (XXX KAO) between July 1916 and June 1917, then moved to 6th Aeroplane Depot.
Regards,
Yavor
