DeWitt Coleman jr. memorial in Vittorio Veneto
Saturday 21st june 2008 the "Hall of Heroes" inside the Museo della Battaglia di Vittorio Veneto (full dedicated to WWI) will be dedicated to Lt. DeWitt Coleman, a New Jersey aviator who flew with Caproni bombers and died (with all the crew) when his plane was shot down over the sky of Vittorio Veneto October 27th 1918.
The ceremony will start at the Museum at 11.00 a.m. (Italy time) with the presence of the US consul in Milan.
The same day another ceremony will be kept in Brookside cemetery of Englewood, NJ, and a bouquet of flower will be posed on Coleman's grave at 10 a.m. (Nj time) by appointment of the major of the city of Vittorio Veneto.
Lt. Coleman's grave is located: Engle St., north, pass the hospital on your left. the second gate into the cemetery, keep right and go to the bottom of the hill. It's on the right, passenger side.
Photo attached. Flower and flag you see have been posed recently by Mrs. Lynn, which will take care of the site from now on (Coleman's family does not exist any more).
A great way to remember a special aviator forgotten in the years.
