FA 20 - 2 September 1918

Gents -

I am working on some background for a possible painting involving the 22nd Aero Squadron to accompany an article in OtF later this year.

Ray Brooks claimed a "Rumpler" in flames between Armaucourt and Bey-sur-Seille at 09h40 on 2 September 1918 which was credited as his 4th victory.

Rick D's German Air Service Casualties lists an FA 20 crew lost on that date at "Teflik Bey". I'm unable to locate Teflik, but the Bey matches ! Hopefully someone can tell me:

1) If FA20 was in the area so this combat could have been with them, and
2) What kind of aircraft they were flying in September 1918.

The painting is intended as an OtF cover, so any and all info to get the details right will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance !
Mike

Mike, I'm thinking this is in Turkey, Mesopotamia, etc., etc. Not the Western Front. Hopefully someone with more knowledge than I will jump in here. R.

No chance for FA20. This unit was active in Macedonia until EOW.
Also the name of the given location is rather Turkish or better former Turkish Balkan area.
