Family of Werner Voss

Hello,

does anyone know something about the family of Werner Voss after 1917?

Mate,
Have been asking the same question for the last 2 years with no voice heard. I believe that the eminent German Historian Manfred has the answers but he has been sworn to silence. and so we shall never know.

I do now that he (manfred) talked to Werner Voss' female cous' in the 60 and 70' but that is all I have been able to asertain. The family just seemed to fall off the face of the earth after Werners Demise or sometime shortly thereafter.

Maybe there is something in the city archives that might assist us in that direction. Let me know if you find something out, cus' I sure would like to know?

Tom,

if I am right informed then "frontflieger" was researching for Barry Diggens book September Evening: "Thorsten Pietsch...who rummaged through the dusty files at the Stadtarchiv in Krefeld for the Voss material and discovered much..."

No - I just 'organized' some pictures from Krefeld.

Stadt Krefeld has a photo album with some photos of Voss' family, but all are contemporary WW-I as far as I know. There is also a beautiful bust of Voss there.

Thorsten- I assume you have copies of photos from that album?

Hildburg- Have you seen the album?

Taz,

the album I have seen at Stadtarchive Krefeld in the Eighties was a conglomerate of photographs of unknown source.

hildburg- Thanks. I have not seen the album, but had heard about it. Sounds like perhaps city officials and the Voss family collected various photos of Voss and combined them. MvR still kept in contact with the Voss family after Voss' death and JG I may have provided some photos as well. MvR was reportedly interested in the cute Voss cousin seen in photographs. Anything in the collection you had not seen in another source or that is worth chasing? Would be nice to see a digital copy of the album if it has new photos. Especially for Tom's book.

Taz,

all photographs were more or less known. Every year someone is looking for the Voss collection. I've not copied them and I think today you must order a copy. But Thorsten is better informed.

Mates,
Thanks for the info, esp Thorsten, Manfred and Terry.

Anyone know of a book or listing that shows every German soldier that received the Iron Cross 2nd Class. As both brothers are wearing one on the pictures of the last day of Werners life 23 Sept 1917, posed in front of the Pfalz D.III.

It would be interesting to find out when they were awarded, where, and how they earned them. And possiblly point to others areas of investigation.

Does anyone have the address or e-mail of: Stadtarchive Krefeld??? As I would like to contact them.

thanks in advance
