Question Fokker D.VII "candy striped"?

Was there a Fokker D VII that had a white tail with a "white/dark" candy striped around the rest of the aircraft?

Are you referring to a specific photo/representation you may have seen?

A white tail would suggest a Jasta Boelcke machine seen from the port side, the other side being black. Ltn. Lindenberger's DVII had light (not white) and dark spiral stripes down the length of the fuselage which may have been pale yellow and black.

That sounds like a Jasta 43 machine to me. They had white tails with a number on the fin. The rest of the fuselage was often in a solid color or striped. There's a picture of a Jasta 43 Fokker D.VII lineup in which two of the aircraft are striped. One has stripes running from the nose to the beginning of the tailplane. The other has stripes running from the nose to the aft end of the cockpit. The rest of the fuselage is white, and there is a black square with what appears to be a red raven on it between the cockpit and the fuselage cross. It is believed to be an ex-Jasta 18 machine. On both planes the stripes are believed to be red and white, from what I know.

Perhaps you might be refering to Udet's Fokker DVII. Please see this thread
