The same seller recently sold an anemometer type airspeed. Look at the price! ANEMOMETER WILHELM MORELL windmeter windmesser gauge - eBay (item 110215836137 end time Jan-27-08 12:25:31 PST)

Dogtail, you weren't the only one watching and I hadn't given up yet. With all the visibility, these items will definitely go for a premium.
At least I'll have some more pictures for my collection.

Machinbird,

Sorry if I increased the visibilty somewhat by posting here. I should have given it more consideration. Apologies.

If I could actually use the instruments on my Tripe I may have been keener, but the tacho only reads to 1600 rpm, no good for a more modern engine, and as authentic as it may be, I wouldnt want one of those huge anemometers stuck out on my wing. There will be enough drag as it is, thanks.

Gentlemen,
In my experience these are a little below what they are selling for privately. Ebay is quirky, sometimes ludicrously cheap and at others the reverse. Generally a tad below "market".
Best regards,

And sometimes you find an original SPAD air pressure gauge for $9.99:

ANTIQUE PRESSURE GAUGE - eBay (item 190194654761 end time Feb-12-08 06:51:41 PST)

Not my find, but Butch's...

Dogtail2, as William says Ebay can be quirky. The probability was high that the price will go completely out of my league. Probably just good picture fodder. Nothing to apologize for. If something looks interesting, but you can't use it, the best thing you can do is clue an individual builder in who might be able to use it.
Does anyone know about the Askania rate of climb (seen with the anemometer). It is certainly a classic instrument, but if I recall correctly Askania was Bamberg's post war name. Was it at least a WWI design?
Best Wishes to all,
Sid
