I live in Huntsville, Alabama and also struggle to find Dawn Patrol opponents.
A friend of mine and I have been developing a system for playing Richthofen's War via e-mail, and maybe I can modify it for DP use. It may not be perfect, and requires some trust, but it allows us to play our games. It's not as glitzy as the DP webgames currently available, but doesn't require a moderator to be able to play.
If anybody's interested, let me know. We can experiment with the system until we get it perfected. It essentially involves e-mailing our moves back and forth. Players roll for their own damage (that's where the trust comes in), so damage is essentially hidden.
The first thing to do is create a grid on your game board so everyone can identify where the planes are. I took my standard game board and put a column of letters (A to W) running down the left side, and a row of numbers (1 to 35) running along the top. That way I can identify a planes position by coordinates, such as A22-SW.
Well I've rambled enough here. If anyones interested, drop me an e-mail and we can set up something and get the process worked out.

Joe, I get to FL usually once each spring and once each fall, and would love to sit in on a game if we can work the dates out. Might help you kickstart things for your own local squadron. Nothing like a real game to get newbies interested.
Also (shameless plug alert), everyone check out the latest, most frequently updated and best Dawn Patrol site on the web:

BTW, if you want to know who the top Dawn Patrol pilots in the world are and how many missions and kills they've scored, go to
www.indysquadron.com
and see the "World Ace Rankings."

Stephen,
Glad to hear from you, would love to "fly" with or against you in DP in the future. Do you ever attend SUN and FUN (Fly-In) in Lakeland, FL (APR)? Next best thing to OSHKOSH!
Is there ever a GAME convention in Tampa? Seems like a good place for one, make it in the winter so wives can hit the beach when the guys (KIDS) play DP intil their eyes fall out! ha ha
Moving in 10 days, no pressure. Making #80 parachute jump this week, Special Operations is sure fun!
Take care and Check Six...

80 parachute jumps? Wow. You're 79 ahead of me... but I loved it!
A friend of mine does the airborne cameras for the TV coverage of Sun 'n Fun, and I'm trying to get the host gig. I did Airventure (Oshkosh) for Speedvision (now Speed Channel) last year and am in the running to host it again this year, but that's not a fersher. I'd like to do more airshow programming, but then so would 10,000 other TV hosts. But I'm trying. If I luck out and get Sun 'n Fun, we'll be sure to get in a game or two. I'll be back in FL for another race sometime in Oct/Nov as well.

Lets try this again,
Any forum members in the Tampa, or Orlando, FL metro areas who would like to participate in Dawn Patrol (Board game) competition? I am willing to teach those who are interested and unfamiliar to the game. Also willing to be kills for experienced aces (ha ha). The game mechanics are easy to learn when someone knows the rules, staying alive long enough to be an ace is more problematic!
