A Sopwith Pup.

Just kidding! On closer examination, it looks like a coffin on a gurney with the accompanying funerary draperies (trappings) that just fell out of the back of a transport, land or air.

Regards, FF

Is that a skid between the wheels or a broken spar?

Not a Rumpler; not a Taube. As I don't know the fate of the pilot, I don't know how appropriate Fokkerj's description is. And it is a skid, Breguet.

Perhaps a view from a different angle will generate more response.

My Gallery
Ooo Ooo !

Looks like an early, pre-war Nieuport. Maybe a IV G ?

I think that ONEALM is on to something.

First impression, the second picture looks French (the fellow with cape).
The tail matches a Nieuport monoplane, my resources call for a
Nieuport VIM ( M=militaire), not a Ni. IV.

Hello
Not easy to ,determine which early nieuport it is but
onealm i right

may be a nieuport II : Nieuport 2 Drawings

a Nieuport IV : Nieuport 4 Drawings

or armoured Nieuport VI ? : Nieuport 6 Drawings

I think Onealm is right with a nieuport IV

cordialement

I thought the prominence of the tail in the second picture would give it away. It is a Nieuport monoplane, but whether 4 or 6 (M in either case) is not evident from this, as I implied in the challenge. The picture is of a Russian machine from 1915 (no Frenchman with a cape) so although a pre-war design, it is a machine taking part in the war, and both 4 and 6 were in use. The only identification I have is Russian nieuport.

I think ONEALM is close enough to get the point.
