Hello fokker

No danger this time for my closest challengers....
I dont see anything but a strange machine to the right which seems be to be a plane but...?May be 2 aircraft involved + another thing -May be an animal ?
By the way your "Kopierenschutz " dont facilitate our guess...

Very interesting challenge

Cordialement

Bruno

Hi Colin A Owers,

I hate to disappoint, you say it with such conviction!

No it's not an Aviatik B or C, nor a "D". I really wish that it were.

Thanks for playing, better luck next one!

Hi Froggy,

You are absolutely correct! That is one "strange machine"!

No points will be awarded this challenge for correct identification of any animals!

I apologize for the distraction of the "Kopierenschutz", as I've heard: "Look past the "PIN STRIPES"". Good advise, sometimes.

I do agree with you, "Very interesting challenge"....To think that I loaned this image to Kilian while he was searching for "Crash Fotos"!
Please try again.

I was just a little surprised that not one of the 4.99 and unders didn't take a shot at this one during the 3 hour wait.

The machine on the left is a Rumpler, the other, no idea. I suppose the fenders over the wheels must a clue though.

Cheers
Rod

The shape of the rudder trailing edge looks like Albatros - DI or II, but there is nothing else on the tail to support this. I can't recall seeing mudguards on a fighter before; they would probably limit the choices considerably.

This Is The End!

Dear Fellow Forumites,

It is with deep embarrassment that I have to make an explanation for this challenge. When I started this thread, I "ASSUMED" that the seller's information on this foto was accurate. In my haste to post an image for this challenge I failed to verify this caption's accuracy:

"WK1 Foto FLUGZEUG Flieger Zusammenstoß FEA 3 Gotha".

I thought that would make for a great challenge.

On closer examination it is definitely not a Gotha! I have studied it with my available resources and have come up with the following:
Not enough identifiable details to come to an accurate conclusion!

With that said, I award the following points for:

Colin A Owers 0.25 for an honest try.
Froggy 0.25 for being right on all accounts.
Rod_Filan 0.25 for probably being right!
Rbailey 0.25 for a good answer. Accurate or not, I do have an artist's rendition of an Albatros D.I or D.II with mudguards.

BREGUET's CRASHFILE Nr. 144

18.95 Rbailey
10.85 Breguet
10.65 YavorD
09.4 Fokkerj Feuchtwanger
07.90 Froggy
07.60 Rod_Filan
06.4 Gregvan
05.75 Ross
05.5 Expositor
05.5 Gilles
05.3 Varese2002
05.0 Dan_San
04.0 Edmond
04.0 Eric
03.0 sergio_vitalio
02.5 ONEALM
02.25 Patrick
02.2 Crankcase
02.0 Cruze
02.0 Rickenbaron
02.0 Kilian
01.8 Tom L
01.70 Colin A Owers
01.0 Berman
01.0 Cliff
01.0 Jeroplan
01.0 PaulForster
01.0 Pvernon
01.0 Troy Raines
01.0 Ransom E. Olds
00.75 Der Grüne Flieger
00.7 tbstreet

I'm awarding the Host of the next challenge to whichever of these four guys can post this thread first! Just to get this puppy rolling.

After much research, I'm inclined to think that the machine on the left may be an A.E.G. C.IV, top and bottom wing shape. The machine on the right has a claw brake, mud guards, a distinct fuselage bottom, and an almost recognizable rudder. Not much to go on! Had it only have been a Gotha!

Best Regards,

FOKKERJ FEUCHTWANGER

Hello Fooker J,bonjour a tous

Ich kenne nicht deutsch, but I think that "FEA 3 Gotha" dont mean that the aircraft was a gotha but that the photo had been taken in the
Fliegerersatz-Abteilung 3 which was based nach Gotha , the town ... not the plane !

Fliegerersatzabteilung 3 (FEA 3) Darmstadt Griesheim Hessen Gotha Fliegertruppe 1914 1918

So the mystery is still there
May be that plane with mud-guards was a reformed plane only used for
training purpose at ground only ?

Anyway fokkerJ thanks for the challenge

FRÖHLICHE WEIHNACHTEN,

Bruno
