Looks like some kind of a Bristol Scout--- don't know about that engine cowling, though. Doc

I think I got it. Bristol S.2A. Probably the one with a 100 hp Monosoupe-Gnome engine (#7837 ?). Converted and flown sometime after the end of July 1916 at Gosport. Darn, just noted that Froggy beat me to it. Doc

It is the Bristol S.2A, actually 7836, which differed from the 7837 (which was the only other one) by the shape of the cockpit cut-out as well as the engine. It was a 2-seater with side-by-side seating, and was sometimes referred to as the "sociable"; also as the "tubby". Intended as a fighter, it got a little use as a trainer.
Doc was first with the Bristol Scout of some type, but that is not very specific and Froggy got the exact type, so I am going to split the point. Bruno is thus an ace and now has to endure the 12 hour waiting period. However, Doc gets to post number 300. We will all be waiting with great expectations.

True courtesy, Bruno. As soon as I am clear on the rules, so I don't violate something, I will post # 300. It should be an interesting one. Thanks. Doc
