And another new one...
yes, 2 in one evening...
color study for The Morning Job (title borrowed from Yeat's Winged Victory). It features a single FE2 making an early patrol over the front. The study is 16 inches x 7.5 (The finished version will be 40 inches x 18.5 inches). I'll tweak the background a little more before I go to the big canvas (I'm thinking the upper part of the background needs a little something subtle), but you've got a pretty good idea of where I'm going with it. Holy cow is right! What a beautiful study - I love the play of the light, and the angle of view you've chosen. This aircraft - and its crews - should get more attention from the likes of us. Superb!

THe aircraft that won the war?
Another fantastic piece by Russ, those wings seem to stretch forever! I am wondering what people think about the FE2 series: it seems to me that if a single aircraft type could lay claim to having the most influence on the outcome of WW! it would be this one. In active service throughout , almost. th eentire war it served so mayn different roles also,what do others think: and if not this aircraft than which one?
Kudos to Russ for putting into such a wonderful painting- not many art pieces with this workhorse portrayed. Is this the same crew that will be "Dashing for the Line" before their mission is done? Or is this the crew at the recieving end of a hunt for the lattice tails? |
