Lt. Fritz Kempf

Hi everybody!

I really hope that anybody can help me:

We are a private model flying club in Austria and we've built a Fokker DR1 squad (9 pcs with individual painting,
see MSFC-Dornbirn -> Bauberichte).
We will be a part of one of the biggest model building exhibitions in Europe in Friedrichshafen (Lake of Constance),
where we will show our squad. Therefore we like to display a short biography of each pilot flew this aircraft in ww1 with a photograph of the pilot and the original airplane.
Photographs are quite hard to find, espechially to get a written permission to display the photographs on a public exhibition.

Photographs needed for:
Lt. Friedrich (Fritz) Kempf, Jasta 2
Lt. Karl Bolle, Jasta 2
Lt. Lothar v. Richthofen, Jasta 11
Lt. Hans Kirschstein, Jasta 6
Lt. Martin Pippart, Jasta 13

Can anybody help me to get couple of photographs and this permission to display them?

Many thanks for your help!!

Franky

Hi Franky:

I do have some photos and color profiles that you listed. You can go to my site to take a look. All of the photo's are arranged by their production number.

Lloyd...

Getting copies of original photo will be hard, these are in the hands of a few collector/ researchers that use them for research only. Many of their photo's have been published but at a lower resolution. Some Museums do have Dr.I photos that sell for about $25.00 (us) each. If you are publishing these or making any profit from them is a different story and you have to ask. You cam try the IWM (Imperial War Museum )and AWM Australian War Memorial, National Air and Space Museum Library. Hope this helps...

Hi Lloyd,

thank you very much for your fast respond! We are a private model flying club and don't make any profit with being present to that exhibition. We are just enjoying our hobby and all we like to do is to bring couple of historical facts to the people visiting the exhibition.
But we don't want to get any trouble showing any photographs (downloaded photographs from the net and
printed on a piece of paper) without the permission from the owner... It's just like this: "That's the pilot who flew this bird, and here are his victories, medals, ranks, ...".

May I ask you to send me some pictures of the guys from my first posting? I'm really looking forward to it....

Many thanks for your help!!

For Kempf just do a search on the internet for him.

You should be able to use photos from the net as it is now public domain. The issue is if some of them my have copyrights from ones that have been published photo if you scan the book. It's hard to know who owns the original photos since it may be a copy of the original. I don't think you should have any problems in using any thing from the net, you can copy the one from my site if you want. The profile and the Artwork are all copyrighted you may want to ask the artist.

BTW, if your looking for data on the planes you can go to my data section on my site to get the known data of each plane.

http://www.fokkerdr1.com/Fokker%20DR1%20Research.htm

This database on my site is several years out of date from what I have now because I'm want to publish the current database one day.
