Couple of questions

This will probably get moved but here I go. Were there B&W stripes on the underside of "Udets" triplane. The one that belonged previously to von Kirschstein? The A/G decals I have have this included but say they're not 100% on this, OK? Next is are there any online pics of actual remnants of fabric from DrI triplanes, showing the actual colors of their streaky camo? I've got all the from the world info, but I;d just like to eyeball it myself. Capice? Later JW

Hi Copperhead:

As far as Dr.I original como streaked fabric there are some but I don't think any of a large size.

We have debated this here in some older posts. Here Are some:

Jw- There were stripes on the bottom of the top wing on 586/17, no proof on the bottom of the fuselage one way or the other.

Latest on Dr.I streaky camouflage, including one image of fabric held at he IWM.

Thanks guys. I've only been online about 20 times since May, because of work and yard work. But now it's fall (finally getting cold), and after I winterize I'll be free to do more model stuff. I was only hoping to see a swatch of original fabric, but I'll just muddle thru. All the profiles I look at seem brownish, but the stuff I use still comes out more greenish. Anyone got an FS# for the green? just curious. I don't have the "other" book. JW

I use Model Master Olive Drab (not sure the FS# but it is the common WW2 US color) This looks right for the olive brown used on the cowls and streaks. I usually do a base coat of CDL using acrylic and give it a sealing coat of Future floor wax before doing the streaks in enamel. If my streaks look too dark i take a rag wih thinner and wipe it off, the Future keeps the CDL nice and safe from the enamel.
Hope this helps. Not sure if it is 100% accurate but looks good to me.
