Hi,

I have a Hellmuth von Plehn (former Kürassier-Rgt. 3) soldier in Kasta 8. He fell in 1917.

Hi Rob

I have a Lt Georg von Plehn as observer in FFA 38 (eastern front) during 1916. He was WIC on 19 Oct 16. He was back in the unit (now renamed FAA 283) during the summer of 1917...then I lost the track of him...

During Aug 1917 he was flying in a DFW 3806....

Hi,
Julius Georg von Plehn was born on 29 Mar 1888 in Kopitkowo, East-Prussia.
He was a member of Kgl.-Preuß. Dragoner-Regiment Nr.10 before he joined the Fliegertruppe. Unfortunately I can't add to the information conerning the flying units he served with given by Gunnar.

As far as I know he was still alive at the outbreak of WW2.

Two of his younger brothers were KIA in WW1, one of them was Hellmuth von Plehn, mentioned by Frontflieger.

The book 'Nimm aufwärts den Flug' (a bio of Hans Gilg, published by his father in 1916) contains pictures of Gilg (pilot/Emil) and von Plehn (observer/Franz). Both men crashed on Oct. 19, 1916 - Gilg died instandly - v. Plehn was almost unhurt.

Thorsten

PS: BTW: Father Gilg was a friend of Mr Krupp (von Bohlen-Halbach)

Hi,
Julius Georg von Plehn, born on 29.03.1888 in Kopitkowo, West - Prussia, is my father. I am the youngest son (3.chield) born on 1937.

It is true, that he was at first 1914 in the I WW in a Kavallerie Regiment and then he was observer by the Fliegertruppe. It is not true, that he was unhurt. He had heavy wounds in his face und must be operatet. After the IWW he lived in Western Prussia on a neighborfarm from Kopitkowo in Rinkowken. This Region belonged from 1918 - 1939 to Poland - it was named "polnischer Korridor".
He had to have the polish nationality to serve the ownership of Rinkowken.
1940 he came back to the Luftwaffe and belonged to the Bodenpersonal at first as Oberleutnant by the 3. Jagdgeschwader - later it was called Jagdgeschwader Udet. At the End of the II. WW he was Major. The whole time of the war he was the right hand of Oberstleutnant Günther Lützow, a famous Jagdflieger. My father died 1955 in Goslar. Hellmuth von Plehn is my uncel, a brother of my father he fell 1917. An other brother of my father Axel fell also in the I WW.

I would like to get contact with frontflieger (Thorsten), with Immo Frese and with Gunnar Soderbaum. Thanks

Arved von Plehn
