Major- Looks very nice. Whose Dr.I would that be? Color scheme looks vaguely familiar.

Too many always use the same MvR paint scheme. I at least honored Uncle Lowenhardt by painting mine yellow. Jesus! Get something NEW in here!

3 wings and red , looks like a Dr1 , but can not be a Dr1 because all had a rotary engine . Why every homebuild with 3 wings must be a Dr1 ?

Does this now make 5 flyable Dr1s in the UK? -
2 Dr1s used in Flyboys
The new great war display team dr1
The Dr1 being finished at Shuttleworth
and this one!
We'll be giving Mr Jackson a run for his oney at this rate!
(BTW - the Shuttleworth Fokker is also all-red. Still, whoever spends thousands of hours building one of these earns the right to paint it any colour they want )

Geez....
Someone spends a few years of their life building an aircraft of their dreams and people start shooting him down in the first few posts. LL and Garfield, I am not going to paint mine red, and sure as hell am not going to ask anyone their permission on what it should be.
Major, I hope whoever flies it first will share with us the details of the experience.
Thanks for posting.

Major,
It looks beautiful, and I hope to see more of it. At least this color scheme is an accurate representation of an actual wartime aircraft - looks like a good depiction of 425/17 in its early scheme. I'd rather see this than a Triplane replica painted up in a fictional (say, all-yellow) color scheme. And you're right, if someone spends years of their life buidling such a fine airplane I guess it's up to them how to paint it.
Of course, if LL has some primary data or (better yet) never-before-seen photos of his 'uncle' flying an all-yellow Dr.I, we'd all love to see them. Or, post some photos of your own yellow replica Triplane.

Major Larabee,
I am very happy to learn the WWI community just got one plane larger! I hope you have a great (and safe) time with your DR1. With regard to paint schemes,...if you put it together, you paint it any color you want to.
Is there any way to get a larger picture, I can barely make out any detail on your post. It's very annoying having these tiny pictures, seems we have been spoiled by being able to post those much larger ones a few months back.
In any case, best of luck and happy flying!
Phil
