Co Fa424

Who was Commanding Officer of FA424, Weinschenk himself, Von Boddien or another?

Jeroen- I do not have anything on Weinschenk and FA 424. Oblt Hans-Helmut von Boddien, a former observer with FA18, was with Jasta 11 before moving to Jasta 59 , where he was commander from 29 Jan 1918 to 27 Sep 1918, when he was wounded in action. He eventually went to FA 424, but my information does not show he was the commander. He was killed in action over Okmiray on 19 Nov 1919. You probably need a Freikorps expert to answer your question more thoroughly. The information above comes from Rick Duiven and Dr Dieter Gröschel.

Hi

I also dont have neither von Boddien or Weinschenk as commanders of FA 424....

It is noted that the "roots" of this unit emerged from FA 18, probably the Ace Carl-August von Schönebeck was the first commander, after him probably Oblt Erwin Martin took over...

But, as this is post-war business my knowledge is rather limited....

Okmiray?

Thanks Terry and Gunnar

But I have some troubles there

First about Weinschenk from the weinschenk Geschwader, did he only command the Geschwader or also one of its composing Abteilungen?
When Von Boddien died 425 was dissolved as far as I know, so 424, 426 and 433 remainig, I guess Weinschenk could have been its commander.

Anyway who at the forum knows what happened to Weinschenk 1919 and later 1920?

About Von Boddiens as a experienced pilot and officer he could have been the unit commander
About his place of death, who can tell more about that event?
I do not agree with the given place Okmiray or Okmiary as it sometimes its written. there is no such place in Lithuania.
If the first is right it would sound like Ukmerge, if the later is right it was probably a miswriten name from some dokument but in fact Osmiany..?

Who can help here?

Much appreciated

Jeroen- There are several Weinschenk fliers. What is his full name? Like I said earlier, you need a Freikorps specialist. Most of us are not.

Tusend Tack

Hej Jeroen

Jag tror att Warchron.com är den rätta siten att hitta information om tyska enheter i Baltikum....
People like August Blume there have much more information then I have regarding this war conflict....Augie is also known for beeing a helpful man and sharing his knowledge with others...

I think that Weinschenks unit actually is FA 426....

Lycka till

Unfortunately there seem to be very few people who are experts on some matters, and yes Augie is, but he can not help on certain matters also....

Who sind die Deutsche Freiwilligen Eksperten?

Some people know something from everything _
some people know everything from something _
but no people now everthing about everything.....they sometimes say

well have to live with that an soldier on

Thanks anyway

Weinschenk

Thanks Terry

I did try to find in my files his complete name, but lithuanian files only refer to him with his familyname without initials, just Weinschenk.

My question was about Weinschenk who was said to command the so called Weinschenk geschwader comprising different abteilungen.

I have also a unit Kampfabteilung commanded by Schalkauskas with pilots Hicks, Kulikovski, Rotter,Schulz and Weinschenk, which was formed mai 1919 flew against bolshewiks, and dissolved november 2.
I do not know if Weinschenk saw action all those months but in june he was..

Then there is Ltn Weinschenk who was WIA flying with Caastel with Fl Abt 8.

How many Weinschenks have you identified Terry?

greetings Jeroen
