Question Victory Markings

I don't believe I've ever seen or heard of a WWI pilot's plane decorated with victory makings, on the cowl, near the cockpit, or on the rudder, as many pilots had done during WWII. Can anyone site examples?

I'm guessing that sort of thing was just not done then. Something along the lines of, "Gentleman never purvey their military achievements".
