Eduard Releases Dual Combo Alb DV in 1/48

Eduards August newsletter says the new 1/48 Albatros DV is released in DualCombo mode.

"The Albatros D.V in 1/48th scale is another LIMITED EDITION line kit. This one is released in Dual Combo mode, with two complete kits in the box. The kit contains PE and mask sheets, and a decal sheet containing four marking options. "

$49.95USD

*edit* Tis a shame in the .pdf file of the instructions, they show everything except the decal sheets. And you still have to remove the footstep that's in the wrong place, and move it back with PE. I wonder if they changed the length of the wheel struts.

Yeah no info.

True Rittersbach no decal info. You have to assume from the box art that vonSchleichs DV is represented but as a dual combo boxing who is his plastic wingman? Karl Thom? Emil Thuy? We'll see tomorrow (they are available from August 2nd)

Dave

P.S. Am I allowed to say LOOK AT THE Bf110. 1/48th scale. New tooling with PE. Absolutely fantastic. Eduard rocks.

Decal posted

Eduard has posted the decal sheet. We get von Schleich's rampant lion (both facing forward !) von Hippel's dragon, Karl Thom's "Curved "T" and what looks like just some red stripes for the fuselage of a 4th a/c

Greetings all,

I have to say that I am a little disappointed in this offer from Eduard. This looks like the same kit as #8110. And frankly the same mold as the "Weekend Edition". The foot hold entry is still out of place, the wheel struts look like they were never lengthened, and there are only 2 decals we havent seen before. Plus, in order to buy it, you must spend $49.95 and get 2. I dont see anything special about it. Except the way it's packaged.

Kinda see your point here Ritterbach, but.......

........... at least we do have a manufacturer every bit as capable as the far east boys that can and does produce high quality kits to a VERY limited marketplace. We need Eduard as much as they need us.

If you take the UK selling price of £27.75 subtract 2 x DV weekends @ £6.99 each and 2 x etched frets @ £6.80 a piece you lose £0.17 but gain some pretty extra decals. Landing gear aside this is the best DV in 1/48th (and 1/72nd).

Anyway before long this release will be selling @ squadron or hannants for 75% of the current asking price. Maybe if Eduard sell enough or these re-releases they will kit a 1/48th Halberstadt Cl.II or Fokker Dr.1 for us. (But I won't hold my breath)

Curved T??

Der Rote Teufel:
The curved T is not Karl Thom's initial, it was Emil Thuy's. He first used the curved T in Feld Flieger Abteilung 33 on a Alb.C.I and brought it with to Jasta 21s. Karl Thom only used a capital T with serifs. This misinformation start a long time ago of an Alb.D.2052/17 fuselage with the tailsid on the lorry bed beind towed. I believe the mis indentifacation was by Heinz Nowarra and still persists as you can see on this Edward decal, however, it is not correct.
Blue skies,
