Is there a list of all WWI pilots, not just aces, online?
My great-uncle was a U.S. aerial observer. I just ran across a photo dated 1919 of him in an aircraft. A notation in the back gives the location as le Valdahou near the Swiss boarder.
The pilot in the photo is 2nd Lt. H.E. Lawson
The photo was taken by 1st Lt. R.W. Sears
My uncle is Sgt. 1cl Wm. Aboussleman
If anyone is interesed in Lawson or Sears, I'll email the jpg.

Hi Sue,
Could you post the picture right here on this page? I bet it sparks some interesting comments and insights concerning your great uncle's unit. These people here are so smart!

Limited permission to use Photo
Members of the forum have permission to use this photo in non-profit publications and scholarly work. No permission is granted for use in advertising, greeting cards, or posters.
When you use this photo please attribute it to 1st Lt. R.W. Sears, 1919. The handwritten notation on the back reads:
"Jan 28 1919 by 1st Lt. R.W. Sears
Pilot - 2nd Lt. H.E. Lawson
Photographer - Sgt. 1cl Wm. Aboussleman
Le Valdahou, Dept. Doubs, France. Near the Swiss boarder."
I can send a much higher resolution jpg if requested.

Sue- There was a Harry O Lawson in the 96th Bombardment Squadron who went to the 1st Air Depot on 30 August 1918. Nothing on Sears or your uncle in Wings of Honor.

Hi,
An interesting question: Is there a list of all WWI pilots, not just aces, online?
If there is I would also like to know about it as I have haf a dozen to a dozen British and German airman that I would like to know some more about. (I.e. Lt. Fritz Höhn a distant relative of mine)
Have included a pic of him as well.

I think that instead of "Le Valdahou" it is "Le Valdahon"
There is no "Le Valdahou" in the Doubs but "Le Valdahon" with an airfield.
