Is there verified photo of MvR's 425/17?
I'm sure I'm gonna get slapped for askin such a silly question. But I remember a gigantic mind-blowin thread here concerning photos of MvRs Dr Is. So without posting a link to that migrane producing thread, could someone verify if there is an INDISPUTABLE photo of MvR's 425/17 BEFORE the crash. If not, are there any that have a reasonable certainty of being this a.c. Posted photos or links would be appreciated,

I could be wrong but I believe all of the photos are contested by one researcher or another. You probably should bite the bullet and read all of the many mind blowing threads already here on this subject

Rob, I hope you didn't take my reply as being angry? I just wanted to indicate that there probably is no Simple Yes or No answer. I am one of the few who love the controversial subjects such as you have initiated. I suggested reading those lenghty debates because there is a wealth of information in them, some which will probably not pop up again in a new thread,ie. acers comments.

Rob, on none of those suspected 425/17-photos the Militärnummer can be read definitely. Alex Imrie said that he saw original prints (1st generation prints, directly from the negative; not those repros of repros, printed in mediocre quality) on which the 425/17 could be read under a thin layer of (sprayed?) red paint. These pictures could be found on the already mention Dr-I-site.

Rob- Most enthusiasts and historians believe the top two photos are Dr.I 425/17, WN 2009. The main dissenter is Dan-San Abbott, who believes the top one is 477/17 WN, WN 2103 and you will have to ask Dan-San about the second photo. Ed Ferko said he could read 425/17 on the original print of one of the photos, I forget which. There are at least two, maybe three similar photos of the top aircraft likely taken on the same day. The third Dr.I is possibly Dr.I 591/17 WN 2261, which was fatally crashed by Ltn Scholz on 2 May 1918, the same day Hans Weiss died in the crash of similarly marked (with even more white for obvious reasons) 545/17 WN 2213.
Read Ferko's Richthofen for details of his rationale for both aircraft being 425/17.

Taz, thanks! It was Ed Ferko, not A.Imrie. I am over 50 now and my brain is getting...
