N.R. 252? Meaning?

My granddad was an army officer attached to the RAF on 7 Nov. 1918. On his record sheet, it says 'attached R.A.F. N.R. 252, 7/11/18'. His first call (after 1 School of Aeronautics) was 2 School of Observers (Manston?), then the RAF Station, Shrewsbury, and then the School of Reconnaissance & Aerial Photography (Monkmoor?).
What does N.R. 252 mean? Naval Reconnaissance? Any help appreciated, any extra info about any of the above welcome.

Yappy, probably a reference to 252 Squadron RAF

"Formed on 1 May 1918 at Tynemouth by amalgamating the ex-RNAS 495, 507, 508, 509 and 510 Flights. It was equipped with Sopwith Baby, Kangaroos and DH6s, the first two being given up in August 1918 and the third being retained until January 1919. These were operated as detachments at Cramlington, Seaton Carew and Redcar. Reduced to cadre in January 1919, the squadron moved to Killingholme where it disbanded on 30 June"

I appreciate your info and the link.
I had thought of that, but N.R. looked too much like an acronym to me. Now I realize you are right. I suppose even though 252 was based up north for the most part, my grandfather could have been sent around to places like Shrewsbury for training with a view, in the end, to being actually flying with 252 squadron...
