Of special interest is a photograph taken at Schwerin, Lt.Krefft in the cockpit of a Tripe, Lt. Werner Voss and his girlfriend standing on the left side. Have more info for the owner of the image.

ZAK,

Here is the some of the info I was able to find out concerning the CD collection.

Here is some more info concerning the Charles Donald collection- Caveat emptor! (buyer be ware)

Info found in previous Aerodrome Notes:

The recent auctions on eBay(approx. 15 Oct 2003) show that the Charles Donald collection memorabilia has been dispersed. This indicates that the family did not desire to donate the collection for scholarly research to a university or museum but of course did the beneficial and lucrative thing.

After his death his collection was purchased from his wife, by whom - unknown.

A catalogue of an auction held by Sotheby’s in London on 23 –28 November 1996 - Alex Revell - Might have held some of his collection for sale.

Charles Donald as historian??? and his pictures have show up in a number of the former C & C quarterly magazine, I have looked at. - no comment.

Hope this helps

Tom,
Not sure of your meaning here, re my name, but I certainly have no connection with the Donald collection. From what I've been told, by researchers older and wiser than I, much of the collection was best approached with a very large grain of salt.

Alex,

I apologize for the offence that you might have taken - I was merely noting that you had at one time advised the authorities of Sotheby's in London on 23 –28 November 1996 that the items in question from the CD collection (that they had on auction for sale from their catalog) might be fakes and for them to check their veracity before the sale.

I understand that they bypassed your grave warning and the sale went ahead.

This is in no way casting aspersion on you, for you did try to warn the sellers, that their sale was most probably a fake.

Your name popped up while doing research on the Aerodrome and what you tried to do.

As always I bow to your knowledge and deeply apologize for any inference to you or if I inferred that you had anything to do with the CD collection per say, other than for you to try and stop an injustice.

I thank you for your time and effort in this matter.

Respectfully yours

Thomas Crean - tcrean7828
p.s. in regards to the Charles Donald Collection - Caveat emptor! (buyer be ware)

Hopefully, this will end the spectulation of the CD collection.
