89th Anniversary of MvR’s death
On this day 89 years ago in a morning vary much like this one, a battle took place over the Somme river.
One day…One bullet…One death…One legend…
Thanks for giving me the passion for the love of aviation……
I will lift my glass and make a toast tonight to say thank you…
Prost…

Ginger STOP your insolence.
If he was not a worthy appoint he would not have been buried with honors.
This has nothing to do with your Hatertrid ... This has everything to do with a little boy who fell in love with airplanes by watching a cartoon with a dog being chased by the Red Baron.
I don't BELITTLE any ones love for airplane but you on the other hand have to place a bad note like that ... I would never say any thing badly about any other pilot like you do. Please leave your Personal problem to your self ...

He was the one who got me interested in aviation after reading Floyd Gibbon's "Red Knight of Germany".
World War II fighter ace Jim Howard told me that Gibbon's book is what got interesting in flying also.
Rest in Peace, dear Baron!

Hi Richard:
It was P.J. Carisella's book "Who Killed the Red Baron" that reignited my interest on the whole MvR controversy. Good for both of you…

Love him or hate him, no aviator has contributed more to interest in this subject.
Hell, I bet there are more than 100 books written about him. Anyways, I thought it'd be an appropriate to to post the link to my video segment named... "April 21st"

Today I pay my respects to a man who was both the best of comrades and a most worthy foe. Manfred von Richthofen, love him or not, has done more to inspire aviation than most others. Somehow his legend and personality have been durable through the years so that even today, he is bringing together men and women all over the world to experience the joy of aviation whether it be in research, building, flying, art or other expressions of the topic.
With much gratitude to Manfred......

My friend, if by deserting from the war before us
You and I would be destined to live for ever, knowing no old age,
We would do it; I would not fight among the first,
I would not send you to the battle which brings glory to men.
But as things are, when the ministers of death stand by us
In their thousands, which no man born to die can escape or even evade,
Let us go.

Good night,
This evening, here in Spain, our group of 'Canvas Eagles' players had dedicated the day to the memory of MvR. We had decorated the wall of the playing area with 'cocardes', an Iron Cross, and a portrait of the Rittmeister. We have taken a minute of silence, remembering his death and all the other deaths of WW1 (without-any-sense deaths).
Then, we have played a scenario with 209th Camels Vs Jasta 11 Dr.Is.
We have enjoyed, but no one must forget that the War is the worst enemy.
Just remember MvR as a great pilot, a Hero, and a soldier of honor.
With the best regards from Spain,
Rinahe
